Updated November 4, 2008

  • As the Holiday Season approaches we focus on the simple pleasures – family, friends, a roof over our heads and the things in life we so often take for granted.  MHA appeals to you to help us provide for our clients in need.  Sponsor an individual or family.  Purchase gifts of food, clothing, household items, and toys.  Make a general contribution to the program of money or store gift cards, allowing us to provide holiday cheer for hard-to-match clients.
If you are interested in participating in MHA’s 2008 Holiday Outreach Program, please contact Janice Hansen at (914)345-5900 ext 202 or via email at hansenj@mhawestchester.org.
  • The Together RX Access program offers eligible individuals reduced prices on prescription medication.  Learn more about how the program can help you and your family.  You can apply online, by phone, or by completing a paper application.

  • The next training for new CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers is slated to begin October 14, 21, 28 and November 3, 10.  Training will take place at the MHA offices in Elmsford, Building 1A from 9:30am-4:00pm each day.  We are currently conducting interviews and are looking for adults over the age of 21 who can commit a minimum of one year to advocacy on behalf of a child in foster care or at risk.  For more information on how you can help for a child in need, please contact Jackie Boissonnault at (914) 345-3993x208.

  • LTCOP seeks volunteers: Got some time each month that you could dedicate to advocating on behalf of residents of nursing homes, adult homes and assisted living facilities? You can help our frail elderly neighbors live with dignity and enjoy a decent quality of life by becoming a New York State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) volunteer. MHA will provide a free 36-hour course of training and support. The next training session begins Monday October 20, 2008. To be eligible for the training, please call MHA’s Margaret Hadad for an interview at (914) 345-5900 ext. 298.

  • Employment opportunities at MHA: MHA continues to initiate new programs and expand existing ones. Descriptions of our current job openings are updated on an ongoing basis. Check frequently for information about job opportunities for yourself or someone you know.

  • We are pleased to welcome two new members to our Board of Directors. Read more about Eileen Consilvio, Donna Renella and the rest of our board in the Meet our Board of Directors section.

  • MHA Assistant Executive Director Caroline Turner and Director of Community Education Barbara Bernstein will be interviewed on Bob Marrone’s radio show on WVOX, 1460 AM on Wednesday September 17th to promote our upcoming MHA on the move…Run, Walk, Dance! This family-friendly event scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008 will raise vital funds for MHA, create community awareness and help eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness.
