Be An AdvocateAdvocacy is essential to continued improvement in mental health services. Here
we provide opportunities to join others in mental health advocacy and tools
to help you become a more effective
advocate. We also invite you to read MHA’s Advocacy Agenda,
as well as background information that promotes mental health
advocacy.
LeadershipAdvocacy at MHA is under the leadership of Michael B. Friedman, LMSW. In a career that spans four decades, Mr. Friedman has held many mental health leadership positions in the voluntary and the public sector including Regional Director, New York State Office of Mental Health; Executive Director MHA of Westchester; and Director of Operations Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. He has also worked with numerous advocacy and advisory organizations at the local, state and federal levels. Mr. Friedman speaks frequently at professional conferences and advocacy meetings and has published numerous articles on such topics as mental health policy and finance, managed care, child mental health, family support, psychiatric rehabilitation, family violence and stigma.
