The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is a community-based not-for-profit committed to recovery-focused mental health services through advocacy, community education and direct services. We are recognized as the leader in Westchester in providing person-centered, trauma informed services that involve collaborating with each individual to achieve his or her goals.
MHA offers a range of treatment and support services that are person-centered, recovery-oriented, and individualized to promote recovery and wellness. MHA reaches out to families and individuals by providing services in their homes, nursing homes, homeless shelters and other community sites.
We are currently seeking candidates for a FT Registered NURSE position in our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, a community-based mobile mental health treatment, rehabilitation and support team serving 68 adults with serious mental illnesses living in central Westchester County. Individuals served by the ACT team are typically those for whom traditional mental health services have been ineffective or inadequate. Goals of the program are to improve the quality of life of the recipients of service through increased tenure in the community, reduced reliance on crisis, emergency room and inpatient hospitalization, reduced involvement in the criminal justice system, reduction in symptoms, stable, adequate housing, employment, education and improved relationships with family, friends and significant others.
The Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for conducting psychiatric assessments; assessing physical health needs; making appropriate referrals to community physicians; providing management and administration of medication in conjunction with the psychiatrist and providing a range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support.
The candidate must exhibit patience, flexibility, compassion and a deep belief in recovery. RN required. Candidates must also consent to Fingerprinting and a Criminal History Information Records search.
