We have an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Substance Abuse Specialist of MHA’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team.
The Substance Abuse Specialist is responsible for conducting substance abuse assessments and providing a range of community based treatment, rehabilitation, and support services. The Substance Abuse Specialist is expected to practice in a recovery oriented, person–centered methodology, with an orientation of Harm Reduction.
The Substance Abuse Specialist must have a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience working with integrated mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment, motivational interviewing techniques and stage-wise treatment. The Substance Abuse Specialist will have experience using culturally competent treatment approaches. He/she must demonstrate effective communication skills, and the ability to work successfully with a wide range of people. It is expected that he/she is able to perform his/her duties with minimal supervision and consistently use good judgment. Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and data base management are desired.
The Substance Abuse Specialist must have a valid driver’s license, car, and meet MHA guidelines to drive agency vehicles. Candidates must consent to Fingerprinting and a Criminal History Information Records search.
