MHA Celebrates 60 Years of Making a Difference!
Thursday, October 19, 2006
MHA hosted its 60th Birthday Gala on Thursday, October 19, 2006, at the New York
Athletic Club at Travers Island in Pelham Manor. The Gala was a momentous
occasion, as we celebrated 60 years of service to Westchester.
The event brought together 250 MHA supporters to celebrate the unique and
innovative role that MHA has played in Westchester’s history. Our patrons were
treated to an evening of dinner, music and live and silent auctions to help MHA raise
more than $230,000 for its education, advocacy and direct service programs. We
were happy to welcome long-time MHA supporter Stone Phillips as Master of
Ceremonies.
This year's honorees included supermodel Emme and her husband, author, musician
and motivational speaker Phillip Aronson; and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, each
of whom has made valuable contributions to advancing mental health locally,
nationally and globally. Long-time MHA volunteer and former Board member Lois L.
Cowan received a very special tribute: MHA’s George R. Farnham Award, the highest
honor it bestows for commitment and leadership in promoting mental health.
Thank you to all who have made MHA what it is today and those who keep it strong
and vibrant as it evolves to meet the needs of Westchester residents. Happy 60th
Birthday, MHA!
