Giving to MHA of Westchester
“I BELIEVE.” Something changes when you say it out loud. Something BIG changes when someone says it about you. For me, it was when my therapist said, yes you have a lot of work to do, but I believe (I know) you can be successful. That was powerful.
Three years ago, I was a very long way from believing anything positive about myself or that life held much promise. Drugs were my numbing agent of choice. I had just been released from the hospital following a suicide attempt and had been told I had to see a therapist. The clinic at MHA was suggested. I was not hopeful. No way was I letting anyone in. I had been seeing therapists since I was eleven and nothing seemed to help. I was tired and angry and had plenty of reason to be. My family history felt like a suffocating weight I couldn’t escape from – from the mom who abandoned me to the dad I never knew.
Arriving for my first session, I met my therapist. Almost despite myself, I kept going back. There was just something in her voice, in her attitude that was genuine . . . even hopeful. I felt like I could breathe for the first time in a long while. Once I felt safely connected, she asked me, “Did I want to go to work or back to school?’ I thought, “Really? She thinks I can do those things?”
Today, I am enrolled in graduate school. That fact never fails to amaze me. I have goals and, most astounding of all, I actually believe I will achieve them.”
Why have MHA clinics been where people turn for more than 67 years?
Our seven clinics are the heart of MHA—accessible places in the community where individuals, children and families can go, with or without an appointment, knowing they will be treated with dignity and care by dedicated, compassionate mental health professionals.
Thanks to you, our staff has touched the lives of many thousands—whether facing a crisis, the stressors life presents or living with ongoing mental health challenges. Please consider making as generous a gift as you can. $100, $500, $1000 or $5000 will make all the difference.
Your gift has never been more important. With healthcare midway through a sea change, the dollars we used to count on are increasingly uncertain. Yet the number of those seeking help is escalating.
We are committed to caring for every person in the community who calls on us at their most challenging moment. Your contribution makes this possible.
Thank you for sharing our mission, for believing as we do that everyone matters, and for helping to make so much that is good and worthy possible.
Your gift has the power and potential to save lives and improve mental health services in our community. Thank you so much for supporting MHA Westchester.
Contributions to MHA Westchester can be made to a program of your choice or to fund our ongoing innovative services in the community.
