Services for the Homeless
Partners In Parenting (PIP)
Shelter-Based Program
We provide services on-site at WestHELP-Greenburgh, a family homeless shelter in Westchester County. Clinicians working at WestHELP-Greenburgh provide ongoing psychotherapy, crisis
intervention and parenting skills training to families. This program operates under the license of the Northern Westchester Counseling Center. PIP services are also avilable to previously
homeless families through our Community-Based Programs.
Is it for me?
Any resident of the WestHELP-Greenburgh homeless shelter who is interested in mental health services is eligible for services provided through this program.

What We Deliver
Services offered at WestHELP-Greenburgh include:
- Individual, couples and family therapy - Therapy sessions generally occur once a week for 30-45 minutes
- Monthly presentations - Presentations generally are held once a month for 60 minutes. Each month, a different topic is presented. Past topics have included positive discipline, the
impact of family violence on children, developmental stages and age-appropriate behavior.
- Medication consultation - Psychiatrists are available for evaluations and monthly follow-up as needed.
Crisis intervention services are available at all three sites for resident families in need of immediate support.

When
Services are provided Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; early evening appointments are available to accommodate working parents.

Services are available in English only.
Cost
Most services are billed to Medicaid (including managed care Medicaid) and Medicare with no direct cost to you. If you do not have insurance coverage, a fee can be set based on a sliding
scale.
No one is denied services because of an inability to pay.
Staff/Service Providers
PIP Shelter-Based Program staff include a Program Director, a master’s level certified clinical social worker (CSW) and a consulting psychiatrist (MD). Program representatives
are an integral part of an interdisciplinary team working collaboratively with other systems, including:
- WCDSS (Westchester County Department of Social Services)
- WCDCMH (Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health)
- Local and County police departments
- Shelter-specific staff, including security, case-management, day care and recreation
- On-site as well as community substance-abuse programs
- On-site as well as community-based medical facilities, including hospitals and partial hospitalization programs
- Urban League, BOCES and school representatives throughout the County
This program has internships for advanced graduate students training to be therapists. These students are supervised by senior program staff members. Some clients receiving services
through PIP work with these students. Persons may choose not to work with a student if they prefer.
