Sterling Club Weekend and Evening Services

Sterling Club provides a variety of social and recreational activities on weekends as well as on Thursday and Friday evenings. They are a mix of low-cost on-site activities and off-site outings in the metropolitan area.

Is It For Me?

If you are 17 years or older, reside in Westchester County, have a serious mental illness and would like the opportunity to make friends and have fun, these programs are for you.

The Sterling Club welcomes new members and there is no charge for membership. Click here to learn more about the Sterling Club and becoming a member. If you are interested only in our evening/weekend social program, all you need to do is send us your application. We can mail or fax you an application form, or you can pick one up at:

29 Sterling Avenue
White Plains, NY 10606

and attend a 30-minute orientation session.

For information about these activities you may call the Sterling Club at 914-949-1212, extension 210, contact our Information and Referral Service at 914-345-5900, extension 240, or send e-mail to help@mhawestchester.org.

What We Deliver

Sterling Club members and staff prepare a monthly calendar of events for the membership. Dinners and barbecues are popular activities when members remain at the Clubhouse rather than going on an outing. Also, Evening and Weekend Services sponsor an annual weekend vacation to popular resort sites. The Sterling Club celebrates major holidays on the actual holiday date. This provides members with a festive atmosphere during what could otherwise be a difficult and isolating time.

Members eligible for Community Support Services (CSS) are provided round-trip transportation between the Club and the event. For further information regarding Transportation Services, click here.

Pick-ups and drop-offs at home must be arranged with Transportation Services at 914-949-1212, extension 210.

Cost

Although many events are free, members are sometimes expected to contribute to the cost of the event, in which case they are always notified in advance. Evening and Weekend Services have a modest budget. Members vote on how to best utilize the funds to help offset member expense.

Evening and Weekend Services are supported through contracts with the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health and the United Way, and by Food-P.A.T.C.H., New York State Department of Health Child and Adult Food Care Program and private donations.

Staff/Service Providers

Full-time Sterling Club staff members also act as facilitators for the Evening and Weekend Services.
