Our Family Violence Services

Family Violence is now recognized as a serious problem in the United States. According to research, while women are less likely than men to be victims of violent crimes overall, women are five to eight times more likely than men to be victimized by an intimate partner. (U.S. Department of Justice, March 1998) Nearly one-third of American women report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boy friend at some point in their lives. (Commonwealth Fund Survey, 1998) Read our page on Date Rape to find out what it is, how it happens, about date rape drugs, what the victim should do, how others can help and other helpful information about this violation of a woman's body and trust.

We are the only agency in Westchester County that provides comprehensive services for all individuals impacted by family violence. Examine the programs listed below. If you are interested in more information, please call or e-mail the contact people listed for each program.

Family Abuse Services
Our Family Abuse Services provides a full range of services addressing the impact of family violence. These programs are available to women and children who are abused, men who batter and children who live with violence in their homes.

WAVE (Workshop for Anti-Violence Education)
WAVE is a group program for men who are abusive to their female, intimate partners. WAVE holds men who are abusive accountable and responsible for their behavior, while simultaneously teaching skills necessary to develop and sustain relationships that are non-abusive. WAVE has English- and Spanish-speaking groups available both during the day and evening.
