A Statement from MHA
A Statement from MHA

Black Lives Matter. This is not a political issue, it is a human issue. It’s a mental health issue. We stand in solidarity with the Black community and are grateful for all those who are courageous and unapologetic in the fight for justice, power and healing.

It is time for all of us to acknowledge and fight systemic oppression and become anti-racist. We will listen, learn and act individually and collectively. We want better for our employees and our neighbors. Our agency is creating opportunity and space for conversation where people may share experiences, frustrations, fears, grief and ideas. Together, we commit to becoming activists of meaningful change. Real change is necessary in order to improve and save lives. This process will be ongoing.

As a provider of Behavioral Health Care and Social Services for nearly 75 years, we are acutely aware of the role trauma plays in both behavioral and physical health. We recognize the severe impact of trauma via racism on the Black community and the secondary trauma experienced in the wake of police brutality and violent murders.

Black Mental Health Matters. The mission of the Mental Health Association of Westchester is to promote mental health through advocacy, community education and direct services. MHA is in your neighborhood. We are your allies. We are your community of care.
