For the past seven years, Betty Bloch made an incredible impact on the lives of children and families throughout Westchester through her work as MHA’s Family Support Specialist. We are deeply saddened by her passing on December 14, 2017, and as an agency, we are reminded to come to work loving what we do and whom we do it with.
Working with families who participate in other MHA programs and who have a child who has been diagnosed with a behavioral health condition or challenge, Betty was a force to be reckoned with. She saw the world as a place filled with people to love, help and support. To listen and normalize extremely tough experiences was Betty’s special talent, as was to find humor in the absurdities and complexities of the various situations families were facing. She got it – she really got it.
In addition to making an impact on the families she served, Betty touched the lives of the MHA staff she worked with. Prior to joining MHA, she had a 25-year career working with young children and families as a teacher and director for a parent-run cooperative, where she also provided family support to those she served. Her presence was a light that will truly be missed.
To carry on Betty’s legacy, her family and friends have formed The Betty Bloch Family Support Fund at MHA in order to benefit the service she worked for. To make a contribution to the fund, please contact our Development department at 914-265-7512 or development@mhawestchester.org. You can also make a donation online here.
