The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Jeremy Reuling, LCSW, NYCPS, Director of OnTrackNY @ MHA, to the Board of Directors of the New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (NYAPRS).
NYAPRS is a statewide coalition of individuals who use and/or provide recovery-oriented, community-based mental health services. The non-profit values difference and promotes cultural competence in all aspects of its work. NYAPRS is dedicated to improving services and social conditions for people with psychiatric disabilities or diagnoses and trauma-related conditions, promoting recovery, rehabilitation and rights.
“It is an honor to join the NYAPRS Board of Directors as the Regional Coordinator for the Westchester/Putnam region,” said Reuling. “I am dedicated to advocating for person-centered, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented services, which enable individuals to take the lead in their own lives and have access to services that will help, not harm, when they need them. As someone who strongly identifies with both roles of a 'peer' and a social worker, I firmly believe that walking the fine line between these perspectives can go a long way toward breaking down barriers and truly improving services.”
With nearly 15 years of experience working to support and empower people diagnosed with mental health conditions, Reuling oversees OnTrackNY @ MHA, an innovative program for young adults experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Prior to joining the OnTrackNY team, Reuling acted as Director of Peer and Recovery Services, where he led MHA’s peer-professionally run Sterling Community Center and provided support to other peer services, including the Recovery Networks and the Peer Specialist Training program. He is also a frequent presenter and conferences and trainings regionally and nationally and is a New York Certified Peer Specialist. Nominated by Alison Carroll, Vice-President of Strategic Initiatives at CoveCareCenter in Putnam County and the current Chair of the Board Development Committee, Reuling’s election was unanimous.
“On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of MHA, we congratulate Jeremy on this well-deserved honor. In his tenure at MHA, he has contributed significantly to our growing peer services, and we know he will provide similar expertise and leadership as a member of NYAPRS’ Board of Directors,” said MHA CEO Charlotte Östman, LCSW-R. “Jeremy’s dedication to improving services for people with behavioral health concerns inspires all of us at MHA and has directly improved the lives of those we serve.”
