Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy for Psychosis
Presented by Stephen Smith, PhD
Thursday, April 25, 2019
9:00 am – 5:00 pm
580 White Plains Road, Suite 510 | Tarrytown, NY 10591

This workshop offers a recovery-oriented lens through which to understand and conceptualize mental health conditions, specifically experiences of psychosis. The training will draw upon recovery oriented therapy approaches such as Recovery Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp). We will explore effective treatment strategies and interventions for psychosis that can easily be incorporated in the therapy process. Lastly, we will explore the implications of this perspective for providers and for the clients they serve.

A Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Smith has extensive training in the treatment of individuals with significant mental health concerns, in both inpatient and community-based settings. He brings to his work specialized training in Recovery Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), a recovery-based framework for treating individuals who are typically non-responsive to traditional clinical services; as well as specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis, an evidence-based approach often viewed as the gold-standard in the treatment of individuals experiencing psychosis.

Course fee: $125. Pre-registration is required. Please notify us in advance if you have registered and are unable to attend. Attendance at the entire session is required.

safeTALK – Suicide Awareness for Everyone
Thursday, May 16, 2019
9:30 am - 12:30 pm
580 White Plains Road, Suite 510 | Tarrytown, NY 10591

Thoughts of suicide are common – more than 9 million American adults acknowledged having thoughts of suicide when asked that question in 2014. Recognizing and acknowledging risk of suicide is a powerful beginning to help save a life. safeTALK is a 3 hour training that teaches people not to “miss, dismiss, or avoid” signs of suicidal thinking, effective ways to start the conversation, and provides information to help connect individuals at risk to useful supports and services. safeTALK is designed for all community members, as any of us in our personal or professional lives may have friends, family members, colleagues, or people with whom we work who are at risk. safeTALK is not recommended for individuals who have completed ASIST training.

Course fee: $10 (New York State Office of Mental Health provides support for this training.)
