New York Bar Foundation Presents Grant to MHA

The New York Bar Foundation recently presented a grant to The Mental Health Association of Westchester to support the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, which trains volunteers to advocate for children who are in foster care or at risk for foster care. “CASAs” monitor and report on the physical health, behavioral health and education needs of children and fulfill their role through telephone and face-to-face contacts with the child, biological and foster parents, case managers and other service providers involved in the child’s life. The grant from The New York Bar Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the New York State Bar Association, will provide vital funding for the required 30-hour CASA training and the professional staff who supervise and support the volunteer advocates.
