Nicholas Pirrotta Named to Board of MHA
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Nicholas Pirrotta, financial advisor at Clarfeld Financial Advisors LLC, to its Board of Directors.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nicholas to MHA, a strong member of the community and an invaluable asset for the Board,” said MHA CEO Dr. Amy Kohn. “As a lifelong resident of Westchester, Nicholas has a deep commitment to mental health services in the region, and we are proud to have him join us.”
Award-winning Designer Launches New Collection to Raise Awareness
Westchester native Samantha Levine, owner of Auburn Jewelry, is using her talent to help raise awareness for mental health with a new collection of hand-crafted pendants and cufflinks. Designed in memory of her dear friend Jeff Klein, who died by suicide in 2010, the thoughtful "j" design was also inspired by Project Semicolon, a national movement to spread hope and love to those with mental health issues.
MHA Hosts Open House at Mount Kisco Clinic
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) was pleased to open the doors of its recently renovated Mount Kisco clinic for a special community open house on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. The event, which welcomed fellow community organizations, highlighted the array of person-centered and trauma-informed services offered by the clinic.
MHA Appreciation Luncheon Celebrates Volunteers
On Tuesday, June 22nd, we celebrated the incredible men and women who devote their time as Court Appointed Special Advocates, Visit Hosts and Sterling Community Center volunteers with a special appreciation luncheon. Jimmy, who developed a long-lasting relationship with his CASA advocate while he was in foster care, so eloquently summed up the importance of our volunteer's service: "You and I are walking manifestations of how a little kindness can provide light in a dark place." Thank you to all of our volunteers - your commitment and care make all the difference in each life you touch!
MHA's CASA Program Welcomes 10 New Advocates
Congratulations to our 10 new Court Appointed Special Advocates, who were sworn in by the Honorable Kathie E. Davidson, Supervising Judge, 9th Judicial District in White Plains on Wednesday, June 1st! Nearly 600 children in Westchester County are living in foster care homes, and many more are at risk of placement into the foster care system.
