MHA's CASA Program Welcomes 10 New Advocates
Congratulations to our 10 new Court Appointed Special Advocates, who were sworn in by the Honorable Kathie E. Davidson, Supervising Judge, 9th Judicial District in White Plains on Wednesday, June 1st! Nearly 600 children in Westchester County are living in foster care homes, and many more are at risk of placement into the foster care system.
New York Bar Foundation Presents Grant to MHA
The New York Bar Foundation recently presented a grant to The Mental Health Association of Westchester to support the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, which trains volunteers to advocate for children who are in foster care or at risk for foster care. “CASAs” monitor and report on the physical health, behavioral health and education needs of children and fulfill their role through telephone and face-to-face contacts with the child, biological and foster parents, case managers and other service providers involved in the child’s life.
MHA Names Peter Sloane to Board of Directors
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Peter Sloane, chair of trademark and copyright practice at Leason Ellis LLP, to its Board of Directors.

Westchester Premiere of No Letting Go
On Wednesday, May 4th, more than 200 community members gathered at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers for the Westchester premiere of the award-winning feature film, No Letting Go. Based on writer and producer Randi Silverman’s own life, No Letting Go follows a Westchester family as they navigate their son’s mental health conditions and the difficult decisions they must make as he grows up.
MHA on the move 5K Run/Walk
The results are in: the 12th annual MHA on the move 5K Run/Walk was a success! Benefiting The Mental Health Association of Westchester, MHA on the move featured a 5K Run/Walk, a one-mile kids’ race, entertainment, refreshments, raffle prizes and more. Thank you to all of our participants, fundraisers and sponsors – your support helped raise vital funds for our mental health services!
