MHA Director of Children's Advocacy Appointed to State Commission
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Jackie Boissonnault, LMSW, Director of Children's Advocacy at MHA, to the New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children.
Nominated by the New York State Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, Boissonnault was appointed by the Chief Judge of New York State, Janet DiFiore, on February 28, 2019. This well-deserved honor marks the first time a CASA has had a seat on the Commission.
Family Initiative Promoting Youth Wellness Comes to MHA
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is pleased to announce that Break The Hold (BTH), an initiative established by the Halloran family of Pleasantville, has become a program under the agency’s umbrella.
The Halloran family formed BTH in honor of their late son, Brian Thomas Halloran, who died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 19. BTH’s mission is to “break the hold” on mental health issues by educating, advocating and raising awareness about depression and its effects in schools and communities.
MHA Awarded Federal Grant to Enhance Behavioral Health Services for Crisis, Substance Use Disorders & Veterans
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is excited to announce an award of nearly $4 million over the next two years from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This federal grant will enable MHA to develop new services and enhance existing support for uninsured and underinsured individuals in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties.
